Seedance 2.0 goes to 4K. Kling 3.0 Pro does not. That single line is why people put these two against each other, and it is also the least useful way to compare them, because the 4K step on Seedance bills ten times its base rate. Both models open at Starter, both are paid in ✦ gold, and both bill from the same manifest-driven formula on this account — so the interesting question is not which one climbs higher, it is what each rung actually costs.

Kling's single resolution is not a restriction we chose: its request carries no resolution field, so the provider renders its own native tier and a four-step menu would have been decoration — the same clip at the same price under four different labels. Seedance's ladder is real, and it is steep. Its steps reproduce the provider's own: double the base rate at 720p, five times at 1080p, ten times at 4K. That ×5 at 1080p is the number that decides this comparison.
| Output | Seedance 2.0 | Kling 3.0 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| 480p | ✦11 | Not offered |
| 720p | ✦21 | Not offered |
| 1080p, silent | ✦53 | ✦19 |
| 1080p, with sound | ✦53 | ✦29 |
| 4K | ✦105 | Not offered |
Read that table twice, because it inverts the assumption most people arrive with. The model that reaches 4K is not the cheaper model — it is nearly three times the price of Kling at the resolution both of them can render. Seedance undercuts Kling at 480p and nowhere else: by 720p it is ✦21 against Kling's ✦19 at full 1080p, which is a worse picture for more money. And the cheapest single press each model will accept is ✦9 on Seedance, four seconds at 480p, against ✦12 on Kling, three seconds at 1080p.
Both models bill strictly per second with no flat component, so every row above scales cleanly: fifteen seconds costs about three times the five-second figure on either model at the same rung. That makes the long end brutal on Seedance's upper steps — fifteen seconds at 1080p is ✦158 and the same length at 4K is ✦315 — while fifteen seconds on Kling is ✦57. It also means there is nothing to be gained by committing to a long render early. A wrong fifteen-second clip costs three times as much as a wrong five-second one, and tells you the same thing.
The one place Seedance wins outright at the same resolution is sound. Its audio is generated alongside the picture and carries no term in its price, so a clip with a track costs exactly what the silent one costs. Kling surcharges audio at 1.5 times. At 1080p with sound that narrows the gap from ✦53 against ✦19 to ✦53 against ✦29 — still Kling's, but by less than it looks on the silent row.
What it costs: Both are hosted models paid in ✦ gold, and gold is bought rather than refilled. Starter grants ✦50 a month, Creator ✦380, Pro ✦900. A single five-second 4K Seedance clip at ✦105 is more than two Starter months; Creator's ✦380 is three or four of them a month. The green wallet a free account refills cannot pay for either model at any length.
Rarely, and the honest list of exceptions is short. 4K earns its ten-times multiplier when the delivery specification demands it — a large-format or cinema screen, a client hand-off that names the resolution — or when you know the shot will be reframed, cropped or stabilised in post and you need spare pixels to cut into. Those are real jobs and the number is the number.
| Length | Credits | Roughly |
|---|---|---|
| 4 seconds | ✦84 | Nearly two Starter months |
| 8 seconds | ✦168 | Nearly half a Creator month |
| 15 seconds | ✦315 | Most of a Creator month |
What 4K does not earn is a phone feed. Social platforms recompress hard enough that the difference between a good 1080p master and a 4K one mostly does not survive the upload, and you will have paid twice what a 1080p Seedance clip cost and five and a half times what the same length on Kling cost. If nobody has asked you for 4K in writing, you are buying pixels for an audience that will not receive them.
Which plan: There is a second route to 4K, and it is narrow: Video Upscale runs SeedVR2 on our own GPUs and is an Ultra-only lane, capped at 10 seconds of source at 4K (40 at 1080p, 60 at 720p). It spends ⚡ green, from ⚡10 a second of source and four times that at 4K — a runtime price, not a fixed one. Below Ultra it is not visible, so for most accounts Seedance is the only 4K in the building.
Kling takes a first frame and, once that exists, an optional last frame. That is the whole input surface — no reference lane at all. Seedance carries omni references directly on its text-to-video endpoint: up to nine items in total, of which up to three may be reference video clips (each up to 15 seconds, 15 seconds across all of them) and up to three may be audio clips on the same budget. The rest are images.
If you are trying to hold a character, a set and a piece of motion across a sequence of clips, that lane is a genuinely different capability rather than a bigger number, and it does not change Seedance's price — its reference handling carries no separate rate here. It is the strongest argument for Seedance that is not about resolution, and it is the one most comparisons skip because it does not fit in a spec row.
Open the video composer — Tick both models to run one prompt through each and compare. Nothing runs until you press Generate.
No. It renders at 1080p and its request carries no resolution field at all, so there is no higher tier to select. Seedance 2.0 is the model here that goes to 4K, at ten times its own base rate.
Kling, clearly. Five seconds is ✦19 on Kling against ✦53 on Seedance, because Seedance's 1080p step bills five times its 480p base. With sound switched on, Kling is ✦29 against Seedance's ✦53.
✦105 for five seconds, ✦168 for eight, ✦315 for fifteen. For scale, a Starter plan is granted ✦50 of gold a month and a Creator plan ✦380.
Its generated audio carries no term in the price formula here, so a clip with a track costs the same as the silent one. Kling's sound option multiplies its price by 1.5.
Up to nine reference items altogether, and they do not all have to be stills — up to three can be video clips and up to three can be audio, each capped at 15 seconds with a 15-second budget across the set. Kling takes no references at all, only a first and optional last frame.
No. Both are hosted models billed per call, so they need ✦ gold and open at Starter. The free video lane is LTX 2.3 and MiniMax H3 Studio on our own GPUs, paid from the refilling green wallet and clamped to a 480 px short side on a free account.
